I so wanted to knit up a square of this dear Enchanted Cottage (from Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, pp. 213-215) for Firefly’s Precious Parcels project. I have yet to get the gauge right for the 7″ square requirement, so on Sunday morning I just jumped in with some lovely worsted weight wool, a pair of size 7 needles, and the possibility that I could use this as a center-piece square for another blanket project.
The pattern is great fun to knit. Quite easy, although careful attention to stitch sequence is vital. Might be tricky as a ‘social knitting project’ but just perfect when on the sofa with only the cat as an occasional distraction. … I am still without a digital camera, so this pic was made using a flatbed scanner. Thus, some of the stitches may appear distorted. My apologies.
