Christmas Quilt

Christmas Quilt
Until I began my personal work with “The Artist’s Way”, delving deep into creative blocks and exposing them, wrestling with them, I would not have thought it possible to begin and finish a queen-sized quilt in a couple of months. Here is a picture of my son, Alex, on Christmas morning, with the fruits of my autumn labor: his new quilt. Fourteen cotton fabrics ranging from bright spring green to deep teal, including a Guatemalan stripe (border and backing) and assorted handblocked batiks, comprise the quilt. All came from what was my favorite quilt shop in the area, Quiltopia — recently closed, but that’s another story.

  2. Dear Lisa,

I’ve dropped into your blog several times and I’ve been meaning to say how much I. LOVE. IT. (Forgive me for not getting round to this sooner.) Tonight I caught up on entries I’ve missed (I think I’ve read them all). I’m so proud of you, dear friend, you’re such an inspiration.

Of course, I’m so touched to be mentioned here and see the picture of my garden. But what we (Sam and I) REALLY love is the quilt you made for Alex. It’s GORGEOUS!

And I love hearing about your time with Omar. SO CUTE! And Martha’s birthday hat. You are too much.

I want you to read Milking the Moon: A Southerner’s Story of Life on this Planet, about Eugene Walter. You’ll die. I’m going to send it to you.

I’m off to Wyoming for a month, leaving Valentine’s Day, for an artist residency. Oh, dear, this is turning in to more than a “comment.” Better sign off.

    Love,
    Dean
